Proposed Route 60 Realignment

Proposed Route 60 Realignment

Date: 31 Jan 2014
Category: Upper Warwick

The idea of widening and straightening the northern-most portion of upper Warwick Boulevard from the Fort Eustis Boulevard interchange (Route 60/Route 105) through to James City County has been in the conceptual stage for some decades. In 2013, VDOT began holding meetings with various stakeholders, including City and IDA staff, as part of initial design and engineering phases. Funding is presently available for preliminary engineering, with a projected construction start in 2019. The proposed four-lane divided highway alignment crosses Skiffes Creek on City property within Oakland Industrial Park, enters into James City County, continues through the Green Mount Industrial Park and then reconnects to Blow Flats Road in James City County.
